1. Freelance Architectural Designer
Novel Terra is seeking a freelance architectural designer to support ongoing and upcoming projects on a project-by-project basis. This is an independent contractor role, suited for individuals who are comfortable working autonomously while working closely with our core team.
This role is primarily in-person, and candidates should be available to work the majority of their hours from our Providence studio.
Ideal applicants will have:

Professional degree in Architecture
-
Several years of professional experience (minimum 3 years) contributing to projects across multiple phases, from early design through construction

Strong proficiency in Revit and 3D modeling tools (such as Rhino or SketchUp), along with Adobe Creative Suite
-
Experience in producing construction documents and coordinating with consultants
-
Working knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, and construction methods is preferred
-
Experience with adaptive reuse, mixed-use, commercial, and residential projects is preferred
-
Ability to manage time and deliverables independently while remaining communicative and collaborative
-
Strong design sensibility, creativity, and attention to detail

2. Architectural Intern
Novel Terra is seeking interns to join our studio beginning in June 2026. Interns will take part in research, the design process, drawing production, and model-making, while gaining exposure to client meetings, site visits, and interdisciplinary coordination.

Candidates will have:

Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate architecture program

Confidence working with Rhino or SketchUp, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite

Ability in physical model-making and material exploration

Strong presentation skills
-
Familiarity with Revit, rendering tools, and AI-based design tools is a plus
